Gurgu Selección is an aged red wine produced from a careful selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Monastrell and Syrah grapes grown in small vineyard plots located in the Seta and Travadell valleys. Each year only a small portion of the harvest is used for this wine, resulting in a very limited production.
After fermentation, the wine ages for up to 15 months in French and American oak barrels, developing complexity, structure and well-integrated tannins. This wine reflects a commitment to preserving the winemaking traditions of the region, which were nearly lost after the phylloxera crisis in the early 20th century.
In the glass it displays a deep ripe cherry color with hints of brick red. On the nose, aromas of candied fruit combine with notes of oak, sweet toffee, pepper and clove, creating depth and elegance.
On the palate it is flavorful, structured and smooth, with well-integrated tannins and a rich mouthfeel. It is a complex, long and expressive wine, ideal for pairing with rich dishes.
