Antepasados is a wine created as a tribute to tradition and to the generations who worked the land before us. The philosophy of Gurgu has always been shaped by the legacy of our ancestors, who learned to live in harmony with the land and respect the natural environment.
This wine revives the native Giró grape variety, which once grew scattered along the edges of traditional vineyard terraces and proved remarkably resilient over time. Recovering this variety is part of a commitment to preserving the region’s winemaking heritage.
The wine is produced with great respect for the environment where it is grown and completes its aging where its cycle began: in the earth. For this purpose, clay jars over 100 years old are used—vessels that were once used by our grandparents to store valuable foods such as oil, meat and grains.
With this wine, Gurgu pays tribute to the knowledge passed down through generations and to the deep respect for the land, creating a wine full of history: Antepasados.
In the glass it shows an attractive medium-intensity cherry color. On the nose, aromas of candied fruit appear over an organic and mineral background from the clay aging.
On the palate it stands out for its fresh acidity, with notes reminiscent of candied pumpkin and traditional sweet syrups, accompanied by subtle hints of clay.
